Financial Assistance

Express Training Services may offer financial assistance other than the scholarships listed on the web site. However, we have also had prior students who have been funded by outside agencies. We’ve listed some of them below. There is no guarantee any of these places will fund your education, or if you meet their requirements, but they are listed for your convenience. If you find or know of an agency that is not on the list, please email us so it can be added.

Eligibility Requirements are as follows

Adults that fit the following eligibility requirements may qualify for the WIA program:

• Must be age 18 or older
• Must meet one of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Adult or Dislocated Worker criteria.
• WIA Adult criteria include:
  • If you are receiving food stamps or have received food stamps in the last 6 months
  • If you are a low income household
  • If you have a substantial disability
  • If you are receiving cash welfare benefits
  • If you are homeless
• WIA Dislocated Worker criteria include:
  • If you have been terminated, laid off, or downsized
  • If you are eligible for receiving Reemployment Assistance benefits (formerly Unemployment Compensation)
  • If you have exhausted your Reemployment Assistance benefits
  • If you worked at a facility with more than 25 employees that announced a permanent layoff
  • If you are a homemaker who no longer receives support from another family member and are looking to enter the workforce
  • If you were self-employed and currently unemployed due to a natural disaster or economic conditions
• Priority of service will be given to eligible veterans and their spouses

 Loans

There are many places to obtain loans, and you may have luck finding a bank, credit union, friend or family member to loan you money.  If you don’t have that kind of luck, EBA Financial may be your solution.  EBA is a finanicial institution that may loan you the money you need for your classes.  They have a 65-70% approval rate, and you find out if you are approved on-the-spot.  EBA has contracted with Express Training Services to initiate the process at the student’s request. All you have to do is come in any of our offices to get started.

The loans can be for any amount up to $5,000, and can be paid back in 3, 6 or 12 monthly payments.  25% of the loan is due immediately and will be drawn out of your checking account.  If you’re applying for the LPN or RN program, which cost more than $5,000, you can have 2 different people take out loans to pay the tuition.

When you come in to find out about the loan, please bring your checkbook and driver’s license (or other picture ID).  You can also call to see what the monthly payments would be for each of the options.

Once you agree to a loan with EBA, the payments are due to them, not Express.  So, even if you withdraw from school, for whatever reason, the loan will still need to be repaid under the same exact terms.

It’s important to realize contracting with EBA is a loan, and payments must be made or your credit scores can and will be affected.  It is also important to realize EBA is in business to make money, and that their interest rates may be very high.  They are not necessarily the cheapest option, but may be the most convenient.  Be careful before signing the loan paperwork.
